Overlooking one of the most beautiful villages in France, in “La Bastide de Gordes” time stands still looking at the magical landscape of the Luberon.
Among the local legends that enchant visitors as they walk through its labyrinth of small streets, the history of La Bastide de Gordes begins a new chapter as a standard bearer of Provence‘s culture.
The extensive project involved more than 150 people over many months. Built on medieval ramparts, the 16th century luxury hotel has undergone a total transformation while successfully maintaining harmony with its surroundings and the history of the village.
After painstaking restoration work, the hotel La Bastide de Gordes now boasts ten thousand square meters of living space: 40 rooms and suites, 3 restaurants, 4 swimming pools, an 800 square meter spa, five conference and meeting rooms – one that can be used for weddings and opens onto formal gardens – tiered gardens and 7 terraces, one of which is considered to be the most beautiful in Europe.
La Bastide de Gordes is already spectacular from the outside, but the moment you enter, the tour is breathtaking.
Resembling a family castle that has been passed down from generation to generation, the décor was the brainchild of architect and interior designer Christophe Tollemer, who also worked his magic at Les Airelles, le Chalet D’Ormello and le Chalet de Pierres.
No two rooms or suites are alike. Stretched Indian canvases, fabrics typical of the region, “Toiles de Jouy” by Pierre Frey and other prestigious fabric designers, give the impression of entering the private home of a grandmother from Provence, who would have collected ceramics and portraits all her life.
As a treat for the palate, the renowned Chef Pierre Gagnaire will be at the head of the gastronomic restaurant, giving you the warmest welcome.
And to finish off the new development, an elegant reception room overlooking the valley could be the venue for your events. For more information / reservations click here.
