Tequila Casa Dragones presents its new artistic collaboration: “Made in Jalisco” designed by Jose Dávila and José Noé Suro

Once again Tequila Casa Dragones fulfills its commitment to promote the great cultural richness of traditional Mexico through a contemporary art project that shows the sophistication of a modern art scene.

In alliance with artist Jose Dávila and renowned collector and director of Cerámica Suro, José Noé Suro, the distiller presents handcrafted tableware that harmonizes perfectly with Casa Dragones’ signature style and elegance.

This new artistic collaboration demonstrates the wonderful craftsmanship of Jalisco, which includes ceramics, contemporary art and Tequila production, combining traditional and innovative processes with the ingenuity of new generations of artists.

This handcrafted dinnerware was created especially for The Pairing Table program in which diners live an intimate and sophisticated dining experience with top chefs who create a culinary proposal paired with Casa Dragones Joven Tequila at Casa Dragones in San Miguel de Allende.

The dinnerware was presented specifically for the San Miguel de Allende Art and Gastronomy Market at the first Pairing Table by renowned Chef Elena Reygadas.

Since its debut in 2009, Tequila Casa Dragones has not only stood out for its distinctive taste, body and aroma, but has also been an excellent promoter of Mexican art nationally and internationally.

Clear examples of this are its bottles handmade with 100% lead-free pure crystal, engraved with the traditional pepita technique, numbered and hand-signed by the Maestro Tequilero; or the personalization of the Tequila Casa Dragones Joven bottle by the expert calligrapher of this tequila house.

Thus, Casa Dragones is not only proud of its Mexican origin and manufacture, but also makes its production style a trend that transcends modern craftsmanship.

For this handmade dinnerware, Jose Dávila represents the color tests that artisans do to see how the pigments will react after firing.

The artist takes up this creative process and makes it visible on the dinnerware, so that the diner appreciates both the final product and the procedure to get there.

“The blues seen on the dinnerware are tonal variations of the blue color representative of Casa Dragones,” explains the artist. “The only way to see a color is to observe it in relation to its environment. So in this case, we can observe how the colors of the Casa Dragones palette interact with those of the food to create harmonies and contrasts.”

For his part, José Noé Suro, whose workshop in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco produces contemporary art pieces and is a favorite of more than 300 national and international artists, comments on the elaboration of this ceramic-based dinnerware:

“This dinnerware is completely different from the dinnerware we have made in the past. The brushstrokes reflect the completely unintentional efforts of our artisans and it is completely different from what we have done in the past. It has a handcrafted quality that demonstrates the attention to detail with which Casa Dragones makes all of its products.”

Bertha González Nieves, CEO of Tequila Casa Dragones, knows that with projects like this one, the tequila house continues the tradition of making its participation in the art scene an experience in which, just like the tequila, each piece is produced in a unique way and taking care of every detail to the maximum:
