Sneak Peek: Ekorian’s Mugie Camp, Kenya

Ekorian’s Mugie Camp opened in Kenya’s Mugie Sanctuary, which is located near both Mugie Dam and Mount Kenya. Situated on 22,000 acres, the sanctuary is home to over 70 species of mammals and many kinds of birds, providing abundant wildlife viewing. Named—like the sanctuary and the dam—after the olive tree in the Turkana language, the Mugie Camp has six guest tents, which feature thatch roofs and wooden decks, as well as a central dining tent. The camp has a fenced-in golf course, and in addition to day and evening safari drives offers guided walks, fishing, and visits to nearby Samburu and Pokot markets. Rates start at $495 a night, including a conservancy fee. (+254.20.6000457, www.bush-and-beyond.com)
